Event Details
Fireknife dancing is a traditional Samoan art form where dancers use a range of flaming knives to complete their routine.
Classic moves involve spins, catches, and stamping and dancers are judged on each move’s difficulty, speed and style.
The aim is to best portray a Samoan warrior.
Held at the Polynesian Cultural Center each year, the fireknife competition is part of the We Are Samoa festival, which is held over three days, with the final three dancers competing for the title during the interval of the evening cultural show — Ha: Breath of Life — on the third day.
The 42-acre theme park features Ha Breath of Life show nightly at 7 p.m.
